I refer to myself as Scottish. Out of habit mostly, it wouldn't bother me if someone called me British.

I voted null since I'm American, but I would imagine that it would largely depend on the context of the question of which I'd prefer to associate myself with (if I were from some place such as Manchester for example).

Obviously if I'm speaking to a Scotsman and I'm from Manchester, I'd refer to myself as an Englishman.  However, if I'm actually from Wales and currently residing in Manchester, I may be more apt to referring to myself as a Welshman that is living in Manchester.

To an outsider such as a typical American, however, they may not so readily recognize the significance of the difference between an Englishman or Welshman, hence the context would be different, and thus I'd be more apt to referring to myself as the broader and more inclusive British label or perhaps simply as from the United Kingdom.  To obsessively proclaim my Englishness or Welshness would seem trivial unless I'm attempting to advocate some kind of secession or emphasize the differences between the broader regions in the UK.
