Dear Mods,

On the 11th hour of the 11th day of this month, 2008, it will be 90 years since the end of the first world war.

There will be very few people on lw whose ancestors had not fought in that war.

It is also a day to remember all of those who have fallen in battle.

I was thinking we could do our own thing on lw that could show our respect.

Is it fair for me to make a topic at 11am GMT, to call for a 2 minute 'silence' of no posting in respect of the dead?

Of course some will post, but a lot may not.

Use a poppy as your avatar to show respect. Lest we forget.

I'ma correct you on a few things:

I think, regardless anyone else's opinion, it would be fair for you to make a topic and ask for the two minutes silence. It means a lot to you and other people, so go for it.

Of course you can make the topic.

But you'll only end up frustrated.
