My two flat mates Rachael and Vicky were talking about someone Rachael knows who has depression. She then kept branding him a ''fruitcake'' and Vicky was laughing about it too. This isn't the first time that Rachael has used the term, she's done it before, and it just seems really insensitive (Vicky wasn't there that time). Anyway, neither of them know about how depressed I have been before, and I just feel as though everything is ruined, because I can accept that Rachael might say those things to impress the others, but seems out of character for Vicky. Sorry, this probably seems really minor, but I don't just feel hurt by them. There's kind of lots of other crap going on, and this is the last straw.

Gently confront Rachael about it, tell her that that term and ones like it offend and/or hurt your feeling and ask her nicely to please not use them. If she still uses them then you might wanna find better flat-mates.
