Ok, so one of these photos is the photo used by Canada's main news station, and the other is a photo I took when I finally managed to push through for a brief moment to get the shot.

One was taken using a very expensive professional piece of camera kit, the other was taken with a modestly priced Fufi Finepix s9500.

I want you to say which one you prefer and explain why.

2 its medium is much more interesting although the color in 1 is better.

I prefer the first one, based solely on the angle.
But the quality of both is great.

In other news, I just bought a Fuji Finepix s1000fd.

The first one is better

What are Poppies? I think there's a breakfast cereal by that name. Equally as delicious as Peach Rings.

the first one...it has more of an extreme angle to it and the red has more contrast with the grey thing

-- Posted by OverTheAir at 7:16 pm on Nov. 11, 2008

1 has a better angle, the color pops out more

-- Posted by callmeprincess at 7:16 pm on Nov. 11, 2008

i prefer the angle of the first one

Oh you....

Poppies are the flowers that are worn to show respect for all the Canadian soldiers that fought in the wars. Today was rememberance day, so that's why there was a ceremony.

The second one, I like that an old man that has military experience is placing a poppie down.

-- Posted by lorenextdoor at 7:22 pm on Nov. 11, 2008

the color in the first is more intense, more clear

-- Posted by Ju5tin at 7:22 pm on Nov. 11, 2008

1st. The angle is better, it's a good shot of the maple leaves, the concrete or whatever is darker and the poppies are brighter, adding a nice contrast, and it's kinda nice seeing those kids placing their poppies on it

-- Posted by auron at 7:23 pm on Nov. 11, 2008

1 because it has a better angle

-- Posted by ElephantStone at 12:38 am on Nov. 12, 2008

the second one. The composition is a hell of a lot better, its more relaxed and you can see the grave better. the first one looks almost like a riot scene, and if i didnt see the second photo i wouldnt know that the actual focus of the scene is the stone and poppys.

Secondly, the old soldier placing poopys on the monument suits the theme of remembrance day a lot better than a load of people gathering unorganised and almost disrespectfully with their backs turned to it.

Needless to say, i think its obvious which one belongs to the professional.
