It is asking for equal treatment under the law. Of course this means that people MUST act and behave responsibly. Believe me in this story no side really has the moral superiority. Please note that all of my gay friends and classmates are non-violent and protested peacefully. I was in a few of these protests. Most of them consisted of singing and candle lighting and speeches. Like I said, maybe she shouldn't have gone there, but that still doesn't justify those people. That's no different than saying that if a woman is walking down the street alone at night and gets raped, it's her fault and the rapist was justified because she was asking for it by putting herself in that position.
