This rhetoric is beyond the pale. To suggest that the Obama win was due to reverse-racism by African Americans and the self-interest of welfarce recipients (conservative code-word for "blacks") is patently offensive. And let's be sure, that is exactly what the author is suggesting.

This comment to an editorial is so beyond lol that I just had to share.  He makes it sound as if the author suggested that Obama won because of blacks voting for him (if you go look at the URL, you'd notice in the quoted text that he made no such mention of blacks voting for Obama, but people voting for Obama to make "history" in a sort of reverse Bradley Effect way) and twisting a suggestion by the author that people may be attracted to Obama, and the democratic party in general, purely for a larger welfare check to make it seem as if he's suggesting that black people eat up and abuse welfare money.

Seriously, how and why do people make such big leaps of logic to go so far out of the way in an attempt to call somebody racist?

Anyone who voted for or not for Obama simply because he's black should be sterilized to prevent breeding and not allowed to vote anymore.

Because if you attack the messiah, then you must be racist.

Combine that with liberal guilt, political correctness and other forms of liberal 'tolerance' and you have your answer.

It's a bit funny how, if you didn't vote for Obama, then you must be racist. Yet, if you voted for him, you much be racist.

BTW I love how you pulled this off of some random jackass's musings to represent liberals instead of a legitimate article or something.

Yet another example of how people who are stuck in such a racially focused viewpoint go so far out of their way, complete with leaps of logic, to cry racism.

Lol, it was just a reaction and nothing more.  The idiot doesn't represent anyone other than himself, although I find what he expresses to not be that unpopular.

*Blinks*

I'm a bit confused about what you're trying to claim from my input.

3 of the 5 people viewing this topic, including OP, are mods even though there are 13 MPM.

What does that say about mods

I wasn't trying to suggest anything of you (sorry if I wasn't entirely clear on that), but rather, that you gave an another example of what I was suggesting - that people who cry racism left and right will look for any way to claim that you're racist, no matter what you do.

It's really kinda lol and irritating at the same time. Race wouldn't be such a controversial issue if we didn't have these types of people around.

It isn't as if we haven't been bombarded for 1.5 years of voting for 'history' and 'change' as code for vote for the black man or you are racist.  There were also all the questions of, could a white person vote for Obama or are they all still too racist?  Also, especially after the election, we have seen tons of reports on omg wow i never thought that in my lifetime we'd have a black president and i'm so proud of this historical moment...

Ha, that's what I thought (well, hoped) you were trying to say, but in the back of my mind I'm a bit paranoid.

Were people always so gung-ho about people being racist though? I can't really remember people claiming "you're racist" as much as they are now, unless I just didn't notice. I don't think there was so much "you're sexist!" when Hillary was up for dems either, unless people just didn't care as much.

I think it depends on where you live because "you're racist" was always a big thing when I was in school because of the 30-50% black population used that excuse anytime anyone disagreed with anything or objected to things such as black only parts of the playground/cafeteria/bus/etc.

Obviously it's a more recent thing.  At first you had people (such as Howard Zinn with his "A People's History of the United States" published in 1980, which became popular thereafter) presenting the US in such a negative way, very focused on the struggle of minorities.  Not to say that this was a "bad" thing necessarily, but that it's an extremely one-sided view that presents whites as evil oppressors, and minorities as victims, with nothing in between.

As a result, ideas like white guilt, white privilege, etc. have sprung up and become popular among the left in the US.  Soon it became taboo for whites to really talk about race at all, unless it's something positive about minorities or negative about whites.  If they dared to say anything else on the matter, they'd be accused of racism, where many whites have now fired back attempting to accuse minorities of the same thing.

And now you got the mess we have today.

It's been said that it's far better to be a sexist in the US than it is to be a racist.

That's a good point, too.  I do find that schools with higher percentages of minorities (mainly blacks, Latinos, Native Americans, etc.) do tend to focus on racism a lot more than schools with a larger white and Asian percentage.  It was certainly that way between the two high schools I went to.

okay not all black people are on welfare im not for sure and whoever voted for obama because of color needs to get a life i like obama because he is cool and young and is a good guy who can do good for america

The saying of "reverse racism" is horrible itself.  That implies there is some correct way to be racist and implies that this correct way is against blacks.  Racism is attributing qualities to an individual merely because of their race regardless of what race that is.

I don't even get what the original post in the website was trying to say.

wtf did he mean by

Perhaps a few people voted in search of welfare checks, or out of irrational exuberance, or maybe even out of a racist desire to have a president of a certain race — a reverse Bradley effect, if you will. Such is the price of democracy, "the worst political system except for all those other forms that have been tried."

I read it 4 times I still don't get it. It's like what ppl who like Obama are welfare recipients? wtf...Or like the only reason you want Obama is if you black or on welfare? And wtf is that all about democracy being the worst system except the other ones that have been tried?

So just because Obama is elected president then suddenly Democracy is shitty? And why does he think there's a "heightened threat of terrorism" under Obama? You really feel more secure under Bush?

The whole first part of the original post is just bullshit to me.

So maybe the answer was off the mark because the original post was weird in the first place?

I agree though its not racist. But some of it sure is like wtf. The second part though is ok. Typical conservo weirdness but ok.
