Counting the number of reasons we became friends Out numbers any fights we ever had Understanding was one of your best traits Realizing we would never get "him" as a high school date Talking on the phone about boys all night keeping you company Never thinking what if one day you wouldn't be here Excited about our futures, middle school was going to be great You were my best friend, never though I'd have to rely on pictures just to see your face We had so many plans for the rest of our lives Our sweet sixteens and learning how to drive Lauren and I realize your life was cut way to short You have touched more people then you realize, everything you have ever said when right to their hearts We miss you so much, we will never forget The late night hospital calls to talk about boys and the random visits just to say hi You knew everyone, you were miss social butterfly You had a bigger attitude than a diva herself Its why we called you "Miss Thing" We would turn on pink just to hear you sing So many memories that will never be replaced Courtney we miss you more than you can imagine You are our angel, one we will never let go Our tiny friend with wings that we will always of had the pleasure to know You can rest now our dear friend The pain has left you and gone away Smile big and look out for us We miss you Courtney Leigh We love you forever and always Love Ashley and Lauren <3 (notice the first part of the poem spells out her name) Incase some of you don't know. Courntey Leigh Chacho was a very good friend of mine and my friend Laurens back in elementary school at Forest. She had always been sick her whole never. and as she would always say "she was special" She never knew what it was like to be a normal girl. She passed away in a hospital in New York on November 14th, 2002. We were in 5th grade. It was announced over the intercom during morning announcements. What hurt us the most was the fact that our best friends death was announced as if it was some normal everyday happening. Not only that, but we never got to say goodbye. I tried to be as tough as her and stay in school but I ended up breaking down and leaving right before lunch. So many other girls thought it was an easy way to get out of school so they started crying too. I knew that they didnt know her and were definatly not friends with her and thats what hurt me even more. How could you use my best friends death as a way to get out of school???? But anyway. She was amazing. She was a beautiful girl and always had something to say. She spoke her mind and especially her heart. We miss her so much. RIP baby girl <3

This made me think of the letters I write to my grandma who died two summers ago. It makes tears come to my eyes because I know the feeling of wanting her to be able to actually read it. Or just, be here.

she had a lot of heart problems and digestive problems and she had a transplant that her body ended up rejecting due to a stratch by a kitten
