So, I was at the Orthodentist the other day, to check out why my 12-year old molars haven't grown in, but he quickly forgot about them, because he saw that I have a "Cross bite" I guess with my bite, all my teeth don't touch at the back, and don't sit in place everywhere else. So, he wants me to get braces. My mom is a dentist, so I know all of the reasons why I should get them now, but there isn't much. All it would do is fix it so my bite is neater, but I really don't see an issue, considering I've adapted to them like this for the second half of my life, and they don't cause any issue, no wearing or anything. But my mom still wants me to get them. So, I say no, she says yes, so I'm wondering what you guys think. I would really rather not for one, put that into things we have to pay for, two, change what I'm used to, and three, have braces for the last 2 years of my high school. My teeth look fine and feel fine, all they do is minor technical things, but I would prefer my teeth the way they are, all nice and metal-less. Insight?

I think you should listen to what your orthodontist recommends. If you think THATS bad, I'm going to have braces throughout my senior year of high school AND freshman year of college.

A dentist is actually suggesting it? That surprises me. I wouldn't, for two reasons; -comfort and -they'll cause plaque buildup on your teeth.

i have a crossbite. they have invisible braces, and these braces that go on the back of ur teeth. honestly, im in your boat but too late, teh bite = not abig deal but my teeth werent straight so i needed them more. but if youre ok with the way your mouth looks i wouldnt bother with them because they...are really just a nuisance. like they dont hurt, but they cut ur lips alot and you have to careful when playing sports and all that stuff, so if you dont think you need them/ want them don't bother.

They may suck sometimes, but I think you should get them. My dad has a cross bite and it's fucked him over a few times (I don't remember exactly how because last time we talked about it was when I was like four) but yeah, I had a terrible orthodontist though and had them on for 3 and a half years when I only should have had them for two >O I ripped them out

Well could the "problem" get worse in time??? If yes then I say get the braces now so it goes. If no then I'm not sure, whatever you feel is best.

I don't really think that that's an issue, I say, only get them if the damage that the cross bites cause will harm the whole set of teeth. For example, I broke a tooth on a baseball in 7th grade and so it was taken out (one of my molars) and then the other one has almost collapsed on the space. I can't exactly live without my molars and so I have them to pull the 2nd molar and the wisdom tooth to make a new set of molars. Just ask him if not getting the braces will hinder ridiculously. I looked at your teeth from that one boat picture, and cross bites are never a big deal, so I say no.

if your ortho says so, then YES. they ARE uncomfortable, painful and what not, trust me, i've been there. but orthodontists are here for a reason.
