I had a friend who was a complete bitch to me for so long. One day she crossed the line, and I said to hell with it. I tried for too long to put up with it and try to make things better, but it just wasn't worth it anymore. Well she didn't take that very well, went about terrorizing my friends and harassing me with constant unwanted texts and calls. After a whole month of this, I broke down crying and my parents called her parents. It was unfortunate it came to this, but I was scared she'd be hostile, so the rule was we were never to see each other or talk to each other again. Now we still have mutual friends, so now they feel like they have to choose between us. Apparently I'm the more popular choice (she can be INCREDIBLY difficult at times), but this doesn't help. I try as hard as I can to make things easy for them. I'm happy to make sacrifices, but nothing I can do helps. I don't want to make trouble for my friends or for her. This isn't how I wanted things to go. So... After six months of no contact, I finally couldn't take it anymore. I sent her a message on Facebook saying I'm tentatively ready to reopen the lines for communication. I still can't say I trust her enough to be friends, but this hatred and these grudges just have to go. I told her I'd graciously respond to any comments or questions she might have. Considerately, politely, and well-thought-out. Six months though. I know she was devastated. Despite my friend saying she was "just getting over it" and talking to her now would "totally fuck with her" I went and did it. I mean, I didn't like how the wound was healing, so maybe it's time to rip off the bandages and start again, right? I don't know. I'm just apprehensive I guess. /rant.

Yeah I know that. Despite everything I do they still see me as cold and vindictive. It's baseless and insulting, but maybe if I encourage communication between me and my ex-friend, their opinions will change.
