Let me begin this by saying that I have no objection to gay people, but I hate double standards.

Apparently the people being escorted by the police are Christians who were threatened by this group of people angered by the passing of prop. 8.

Read the description for more of the story.

Now, I live in an area where a fair number of protests take place. People shout at each other. Occasionally, someone goes too far, and gets arrested. If the story told in the video's description is at all to be believed, the people under police protection were holding a fairly peaceful protest, yet the reaction too it was huge and unreasonable.

I've seen people protesting gay marriage, the war, religion, and a couple other things, and usually the protesters are the loudest. I've never seen a protest end like this. Yet, the person who showed me this video thought it was justified because all Christians 'are hateful bigots.'

What do you people think? Is the harassment of people to the point where a ton of cops have to intervene allowable merely because you don't like the people?

Personally, I think that if a bunch of people had done this to gay protesters, they'd all have been slapped with lawsuit saying that they had committed hate crimes.

You wouldn't even believe the amount of Christian persecution there is in the world.

Everything has two sides.

I can well believe it. I've been on the wrong side of the Westboro Baptist Church before. When I was though, no one threatened them in the way that these people were threatened. And if you've heard of Westboro, you know that the protesters are extremely obnoxious, in this particular case, the protesters appear to have been mainly peaceful.

It passed because the fucking mormons spent every dime they had to make sure it passed. As much as it pisses me off, I don't think that the people who were angry about it passing should have been so... I don't know what a word would be, but... yeah... about it. Even though the beliefs of these people is a bunch of bullshit.

It really upsets me as a Christian.
Mainly because everyone sees what WE do wrong, and hardly any of what we do right. Everyone sees us as a threat. Which is so untrue.

Oh. Ha. I think I misread your first post then.

I agree with you. People who think that Christians somehow deserve anything they get merely because they are Christians are idiots.  No one should be threatened to the point where police have to intervene.

Yeah I thought this was interesting, I have seen stories in the news the last 3 nights in a row about situations like this, where either homosexuals attacked people at a protest, or in one of them the gay people actually stormed into a church during a service and started screaming about how it is ok to be gay. I thought it was also worth noting that in all of those cases, even the one in the church, the "hateful, mean, bigot" Christians just sat there and didn't even respond. I know Christians have been involved in these same types of situations turned the other way around, I just think it's interesting that a group who has always claimed to be all about "peace, love, and tolerance" is now resorting to violence and intimidation because they couldn't get what they wanted before. Just goes to show no group is really that much different than any other, even if they think they are.
