My dad lives a few states away. He just told me that he probably won't make able to make it to my graduation because of his back problems and the airplane. I understand that but I'm surprised because he has always been so "proud" and "supportive" of me, how could he not go to my graduation? He's my dad, I want him there, but I can't make him feel bad about it.. Should I be hurt? Or like.. should this not be a big deal at all?

I don' think it should be a huge deal, seeing as he's physically incapable of attending.

You can be disappointed but think about it this way, so is he.

Don't make him feel bad. be disapointed, but don't let him know that you're dispointed. i'm sure he would come if he could.

He is probably disappointed that he can't be there for you. I mean has back problems, I don't think he purposely did that to not be there for you, especially if he has always been supportitve in the past. It is okay to feel a little hurt and disappointed, but he also feels that way cause he can't be there for you and he knows it means a lot to you
