So I wrote this letter:
To Whom It May Concern:
I Melissa A XXXXXX would like to cut back my hours at St. Joseph's Home For The Aged as soon as possible,  my current work schedule is taking a toll on my home life and working a bit less would make things easier for me. I am currently working 10 days a pay period (80 hours a pay period) and I would like to only be scheduled to work 8 or 9 days a pay period (64 or 72 hours a pay period) when the next schedule comes out, I would greatly appreciate it if you could accommodate my request.

Do you think this sounds good, or should I re word it?

It's worded fine. But work on your grammar and punctuation.

Maybe try and use that less?

Thats what its called, the 2 weeks that you get paid for is the "pay period".

I'd suggest asking for a cut in hours per week rather than per pay period.  Unless you have some weird schedule where you work certain days/hours every other week.  The word week makes it sound a bit more easily organizable. Or you could ask to just work 3 or 4 days per week instead of dealing with larger number like people don't seem to like doing.

I get every other weekend off, so i wasn't sure how to word it.

I'd suggest then that you just ask for an extra day off each week that you would normally work.  That way it sounds much more regular and can remove some confusion of figuring out which weeks you'd have whatever extra day off and which weeks you'd have a different extra day off.
