I think I'm going to cry. I'm applying to Social Science majors, but in VERY selective universities and my scores are CRAP. 740 reading, 730 writing but.....610 on math complete depression.

It's not bad...right? Other than Math.

Social Science majors are such BS. Unless you get a PhD you're going to become a school counselor. And your scores aren't bad at all.

A masters in International Relations shouldn't set me up as school counselor. And I can't do ANYTHING with that math score. STUPID SAT it bugs me so much, I get 90% in Calculus and I have to epic fail at SAT crap.

You guys figure I can do an early january reasoning test and rush the scores, or just forget about my applications for this year... (I'm doing the subject tests in december...) I'm so depressed, I had worked so hard. And my parents refuse to pay for US college unless it's an ivy league or stanford. So..yeah, great.
-- Posted by Bearsy at 4:38 am on Nov. 20, 2008
Uh where the hell do you plan on going to school that a 610 math score is going to discount your GPA/extracurriculars/other two great scores?

Your parents are douchebags. Sorry, but just because it is Ivy League does not mean it is the only school worth going to. And your SAT is pretty damn good.

My parents refuse to pay the 50k price tag (which is insane..financial aid pleasee ) for any school that isn't better than the University in my city, which is 20th in world rankings and is virtually free for residents. And for the physics major part (someone else mentioned), hah well I hate physics. Chem is fine but physics...shudder! I'm only applying to Yale, Stanford, Columbia, Princeton, Dartmouth, Harvard and either Brown or Cornell,

the OP knows that her scores are good, but instead of making a topic titled "HEY COME LOOK AT MY SAT SCORES- TELL ME I IZ SMERT!" it is disguised as a pity fest. but, i wouldnt have even known whether those scores were good or not had it not been for the replies. I took the "old" SAT.
-- Posted by dreamweaver at 3:48 am on Nov. 24, 2008
Then apply to a lesser prestigious school, work on your grades there, and then transfer. But if you're wanting a masters, it doesn't really matter where you're going now to get it. Jobs don't really look at what school you got your degree at anyway.

That is ridiculous. I know my scores are good, but they just aren't good enough. ''goodness'' is subjective to one's capabilities, effort, desires, goals..

well i got a 670 in reading, 740 in math, and 710 in writing, which on the whole is worse than you. but that was in january, when i was a sophomore. so i still have time.
-- Posted by jennay at 1:21 pm on Dec. 6, 2008
you obviously just made this thread to brag about your other scores
-- Posted by koko at 2:18 pm on Dec. 9, 2008
Yeah, exactly. Getting elegies from unknown teens on scores that I know are good (english ones) is really something I need, its definetly one of my biggest goals in life.
