Heroin isn't all that bad if you're smoking the pure shit, you just have to be careful and pace yourself.  And if you overdose, you just go to sleep.  Now, a crack cocaine or crystal meth overdose is scary because you're awake the whole time and stimulant addiction tends to be much more psychological than addiction to downers.
