Can we not have the "refer a friend" messages being automated through the Support Leader accounts? Two/thirds of my inbox is from new members saying, "I don't have any friends to refer, stop sending me these messages!!" I can't help someone refer friends, and that rule has nothing to do with me, so why is it tied to my name?

I agree with you! I used to get so sick and tired of that message being sent to me. I'm glad I had my checklist completed quickly.

I can't say that I have ever gotten a message from a novice about referring a friend. You are their SL, so it is tied to your name...

Lolololol, poor SLs.

You're their SL, so it goes from your account. It's setup like that so you can see the deletion messages which are sent from your account, so you cna respond to any messsages like that. Imagine how it is like with all of our moderation actions which come from our account :P. Luckily we are given a larger inbox,

I understand the concept of having messages being tied to the account. That's not the problem. I'm talking about this specific message about referring friends. It has nothing whatsoever to do with the SL in any way, and since we have nothing valuable to add or say about the referral system, it shouldn't be tied to us.

More likely to listen your biggggg brother/sister SL :D.

This change was introduced back when David introduced the checklist - at the time it was claimed to simply be a pyramid scheme to garner new members, which many felt was not the creed of the site - to support. Since then, to my knowledge, the site hasn't produced a Profit & Loss statement (which it's only ever done in one year - 2006 if I recall correctly), despite brimming with new members - many of which are donating. It's an uncommonly-known fact that we actually send these messages out - as they aren't included in our Outbox. However, we're still plagued with replies from new members who came to the site for the very reason that they don't have friends, and immediately have such a force shovelled down their throats. It's the very antithesis of support, but it's what David wants to make the site - large and profitable. Or so it seems. So yes, I fucking agree. Take the godforsaken message down.

i'm positive that we only 'look' to send two - the Internet Safety Warning one, and the regular ol' intro one with our personal message in it. the refer-a-friend one which i occasionally receive replies to is certainly not there.
