Why the hell are you people saying to buy a laptop with a built-in card? The problem is with the router, not the damn wireless chipset. Learn to read or something about networking, not just saying whatever the fuck you wish you knew. A new wireless chipset does not change if there is a router. Any modern wireless router will most likely come with an easy set-up CD. The D-Link DIR-615 I have at my apartment (decent cheap 802.11n-draft router, $40) came with one. If you can't figure out one that came with a CD you might have to consider finding a computer technician who will overcharge you to the Max.

Any cheap linksys will do. Google "linksys setup" and just follow the directions.
