Ok this is going to sound really messed up which is probably why I'm afraid to tell anybody I personally know. I cut for fun. And sometimes not even for fun just if I feel like it. I used to do it cause I was depressed but now its like an addiction. I'm not happy when I do it I downright hate myself. But I just won't stop. I don't go deep and i'm NOT trying to kill myself. I don't want to die. I just do it. Always on the top of my wrist and never deep. I do it til I get blood but am careful when I do it because it hurts. Excatly I don't understand why I do it. And if I don't understand it how am I suppose to get help. Anyone have the same problem or any insight? I need help with this cause I don't even want to stop but I know its healthier if I do. Thanks for reading this. Even if you don't reply thank you for your time.

Make an appointment with your school counselor (assuming you have one). They should be able to help you out.

No if you really want to feel it then you get used to it.

I did that and they told my mom and that was no fun that was freshman year and I;m a junior now. She was like "Tell me anyhting I won't tell your parents." then right when I'm about to leave she was like " Oh i'm gonna call your mom to tell her you cut" backstabber to the maximum. I just told my mom I didn't do it anymore cause at the time I was off it. I hate counselors like that. Shes the reason I'm afriad to go to anyone I know personally

it sounds like you have a bit of an impulse control disorder. i have dermatillomania, which is obsessive skin picking, plucking, popping. i'm completely aware of the effect it has, i know i SHOULD stop or refrain from doing it, but i don't want to. a good way to try and at least cut down on it is replacement, or distraction. wear bracelets, hide your razors. when you feel like nicking, shave your legs. i can completely sympathize, it's basically impossible to stop doing something because you should, not because you want to. but the fact that you're aware of that makes it easier...just try and use it as a reward, only do it in moderation

i totally understand. its a major addiction just keep telling yourself that you dont need it and you'll be happier without, n start slowin down how many times you do it... good luck!!!!

I don't think that counselors can legally do that. It's under a Confidentiality Act, I think, but sorry that happened to you.

cutting is a drug...there is a high (or type of high) you get from it. Its like herion...you can't stop. The only way to stop is slowly ween yourself off it. When your tempted to do it put the razor, or whatever, in a cabinent and find the nears pillow. Take the pillow and punch it till you tire out. Then go running or something to produce endorphins...,this will help...remember to ween yourself off it. Don't do it all at once... like lets say you do it 3 times a day. Then next week you do twice a day and run for the one until you get confident in that...then continue to decrease from there.

they have an obligation to alert your parents and/or authorities if there's any danger to you. self-harm obviously counts as danger. she could have lost her job if she didnt say anything.

It is an addiction, so this makes perfect sense. Like any other addiction, it's bad for yours system and your mind, so you should work to stop. Anything that works for drugs works here. Getting a support network of people to talk to while you try to stop is helpful, as well as slowly switching to less intense versions of it. For example, instead of cutting, create pain by squeezing ice, or snapping a rubber band against your wrist. One non-damaging way of causing pain I used when I was trying to stop is using a compressed air can. When you use them, the can gets really cold, and hurts your hand. Nothing is as good, but you need to stop somehow. I wish you best of luck trying to quit. Feel free to message me if you need someone to talk to about it.
