for the last few weeks (maybe a month)...
i've been falling asleep at like 8 o clock, and waking up at like 9:30.
that's over twelve hours.
i'm not pregnant, i'm at a healthy weight (124 and 5'8''), and i'm 13 years old, not on any medication...
depression? that i'm not aware of?
or some kind of hidden medical cause...?

what's wrong with me?

-- Posted by xoAllixs0n at 2:18 pm on Dec. 1, 2008

You're underweight.

-- Posted by bigredron at 2:18 pm on Dec. 1, 2008

you sleep too much and are lazy. get off your ass and be active. when u exercise you will sleep normal hours

-- Posted by DemolitionxXxLover at 2:18 pm on Dec. 1, 2008

The possibilities are infinite

-- Posted by Natsy at 2:18 pm on Dec. 1, 2008

you're 13?? seriously??

erm, idk ... sometimes if i don't have anything to (or im too used to my alarm) i can sleep over 12 hours as well...

-- Posted by kittymunchy at 2:19 pm on Dec. 1, 2008

it could be a thyroid problem. only way to find out is to go to a doctor...

-- Posted by longliverock2 at 2:19 pm on Dec. 1, 2008

or youre growing, i used to sleep like 15 hours on weekends when i had growth spurts...

-- Posted by Latin Muscle at 2:19 pm on Dec. 1, 2008

You sound unhealthy.
I would give you nutrition advice.but nah i am too lazy to type more

-- Posted by sadnessness at 2:19 pm on Dec. 1, 2008

ok so the weight isnt that healthy (you could do with gaining a few pounds)

i cant really diagnose you over the internet, its best you ask your parents or go see a doctor really.
it could be your diet, could be puberty, could be an illness, IDK

i'm lazy?
i have ballet for 2 hours every day.
i run ten miles a week.
get up off my ass an be active?
i've been doing this since i was eleven, and the fatigue just started now.

before you make jackass assumptions, get the facts.

There's nothing wrong with sleeping a lot. Especially at your age. Are you tired through the day still?

-- Posted by MixedDelight at 2:20 pm on Dec. 1, 2008

That's perfectly normal. Your body is growing and that takes energy, teenagers typically sleep longer (if they can find the time) than other ages groups.

-- Posted by kk327 at 2:21 pm on Dec. 1, 2008

I think you said in previous posts that you wanted to lose weight, right?  i really think you shouldn't do that... but LW isn't a doctor... so we can't really say... maybe  if it really bothers you see a doctor?

-- Posted by BornUNHAPPY at 2:21 pm on Dec. 1, 2008

Depression?

-- Posted by MiNNiCK at 2:21 pm on Dec. 1, 2008

I agree with the post stating you're underweight. Perhaps you could gain a little weight

a bit tired, yes.
i never feel...energized.
i'm a vegetarian, too.
could this affect it?
no, it can't because i've been for a year, and it hasn't until a month or so ago...

-- Posted by Keego05 at 2:22 pm on Dec. 1, 2008

You're sleeping too much, and thus you're getting tierder easier. Try sleeping 8 hours and then cut it down to about 6, sleeping the right amount will make you feel more awake then sleeping too much.

-- Posted by ocdbabe at 2:22 pm on Dec. 1, 2008

i have the same problem. it could be: thyroids, electrolytes, or oyu just dont have enough calcium.  Start tkaing vitamins and this One-A-Day Energy supplement. The bottle is green. I just started taking it and it seems to be helping a bit. try vitamins and energy supplements firs.t There are also other supplements you can take. I'm going to start on one soon, so if vitamins dont help message me and i'll tell you if this supplement helps. =]

The comment came from the fact that you sleep over twelve hours a day.

The healthy range is 6-9 hours for adults, 8-10 for your age group. If you go under or over this, you tend to be more tired.

That's right, you can get tired from sleeping too much. There's a good chance that's what's happening to you.

If you're going to lie right off the bat, don't expect people to give a shit about the credibility of their assumptions.

Maybe your growing body needs more energy to keep it going.
Anyway, with you doing so much, needing a lot of sleep is natural.
The dancing explains you being underweight.
Erm, the best advice i can give is again to go see a doctor and see what they recommend.
At 13, any minor changes could have a big impact on your health.

i'll admit you lost me.
lie about what, now?

-- Posted by bigredron at 2:25 pm on Dec. 1, 2008

your too skinny eat more food to give you energy so your body doesnt rely on sleep to regain energy

-- Posted by Al Legator at 2:26 pm on Dec. 1, 2008

it could be depression but you'll need more "signs" than just tiredness and oversleeping. http://www.tru.ca/wellness/emotional/depression/signs.html

It could be  body changes are having some effect. Most likely, I think, is simply that you are not getting enough exercise and are sleeping too long. Your body will get into that cycle and it may be hard to break. Exercise- just mild stuff, but at  regular times if possible and throughout the day...basically your body is designed to move and be active. When we don't, we get sluggish which leads to more "sluggishness". So, walk to school if you can , walk to friends, to the corner store. Then do some specific exercise at some point in the day...maybe at school, maybe home.

This will take some time to change- and it may be hard to get started. Burt force yourself to get up at a reasonable time, force yourself to get that mild walking exercise or whatever and within a week you'll notice a small difference. Within two week,s a more noticeable difference and it'll get better.  But expect the first week or so to be hard to get started

unless you count conception and my gestation period, in which case i'm 14.
but since my birthday, march 19th, 1995, i'm 13.
pretty sure.

Being a veggie could be having an effect.

When youre doing that much exercise it is essential that you get enough protein. The best sources for a veggie would be : eggs, nuts, pulses, beans.
You need a lot of these things (fewer of the nuts because of excess fats)

-- Posted by Al Legator at 2:35 pm on Dec. 1, 2008

Just got the update on your activities.
Vegetarianism could be a factor. A proper Iron level especially for girls is important and, as a vegetarian, I know it's hard to get just right.

I'd recommend that you get some professional diet advice from a nutritionist and also get checked by your doctor. More than likely something is just a bit out of whack but you should rule out anything more serious.

If that's true then I'll admit I'm wrong, but I thought people who are as athletic and healthy as you say you are, looked younger, not older than they really are. But in any case, I apologize for the mistake.
