i fit enough of the criteria to have it, like 7 out of 9.
but when i cut, i dont do it for attention, or to manipulte others, which i heard is why people with bpd do it, is that true?

Not every symptom/sign is going to be spot-on for every person.

You're a teenager... obviously you're gonna think you have it. Your personality is definitely not the same at 16 as it is at 26.

You shouldn't cut for any reason.
If your not doing it for attention, what are you doing it for? Cutting is a disease that is most common in young adults it is usually because of the fact that they were ignored.
I have heard people say that they cut for the pain but pain isn't something that people seek.
If you feel the need to cut you should also see a psychiatrist and sort out your inner most problems.
Once you get everything off your chest you will notice that your symptoms of border line personality disorder go away.

What are the list of 'symptoms' that you think fits borderline personality disorder? I highly doubt it.. but I can tell you if you let me know. BPD is a really complex mental disorder, their mind is more disorganised and that's what makes them do "manipulative" things sometimes. There's no single reason why anybody cuts though, as is the case for depression or anything else.

Just a note though, sometimes it's helpful to put a label to things to understand it better. But try not to rely on it. Ultimately you need to try to deal with the problem itself rather than what diagnostics it falls under.

I have a friend who has BPD and I don't think she cuts for attention. She did use to cut a lot.
