so this school gave me some sort of "personal application" i don't need to write a formal essay, just a short personal statement. But they left the topic completely up to me and i have no idea what to write about... "The Distinctive Candidate Application does not require you to submit an essay. In its place, however, we do ask you to submit a brief personal statement (250 to 500 words) - as a way to get to know you as a person and more than a collection of classes and test scores. Relax - there are no wrong answers. But we do ask you to consider grammar, spelling and the content of what you wish to express. The topic is up to you, but if you need some help getting started, here's an idea: Describe a negative interaction you have had with another person. What happened? How did you react? How did you respond to the other person?" i don't want to resort to their suggestion.

Write about why you want to go to college (ex. career goals, academic interests, experiences that made you realize you wanted to get higher education etc.) If you are low income, any group that may have a harder time going to college you could write about that too and how you want to overcome it They probably just want to make sure that you can string some sentences together and actually want to be there.

Talk about either a significant event in your life, what you want to do with your education, or just sort of ramble about yourself. They probably just want to see what you would consider worthwhile for a one shot description of yourself.
