You probably could but use it very sparingly, have you used it on your face before? I once decided to try it and ended up putting so much on that my skin was cracking and bleeding from dryness the next day.

I'm not sure if it would stain, it rubs in transparent most of the time but leaves some white residue that you could probably wash off but I'm not positive.

yeah
differin is a "topical" - so any area that isn't natural sensative on you skin

and no it doesn't work for cold sores.. people have tried it
