If it doesn't violate the rules, they have no reason to look.

They look who it is even if they're not going to delete it if the topic is interesting to them.

the whole point of it is so that people that know you that happen to be on here cant tell that it was you so it keeps you safe in that way, so it shouldnt matter if they know who posted it...unless they know you i guess
-- Posted by dovelove at 4:12 pm on Dec. 7, 2008
mmm, sometimes it's necessary. if it's a spam topic and i think it belongs to a member who has previously been warned about abusing the anonymous feature but the topic doesn't need to be trashed, i'll check and see who the person is so i know the appropriate action to take.

http://www.golivewire.com/forums/peer-yytayyy-support-a.html They pretend to be joking but you know they look a lot. Also not gonna read that whole thread again, but I know someone says she always looks in pregnancy topics?! Also "I look when I need to or when I think the member is a predator or spamming. " Ok on my old account once I had a real medical issue and they deleted my anon topic for "spam" just because it was me. I was being honest.

We really don't check nearly as often as members think we do.

good idea (:
-- Posted by spartan09 at 4:15 pm on Dec. 7, 2008
I'd like that. I figured they could see, and I knew it would be abused if they could. They shouldn't have the power, really. Although, again, what's the point? It's LW, you don't even know 99% of these people in RL. So who cares what they think of you?

You have the right check serious anon topics just to see if it's someone with a bad reputation and that's kind of scary. Some of you do and you admitted it in meh topic

Exactly. The moderators are also supposed to be impartial. They aren't supposed to look at someone's anonymous topic and trash their name around the site if its juicy gossip, and if they do, they still have authority figures above them.

part of knowing whether or not to delete it is knowing who posted it.

Perhaps you should create an anonymous topic exploring the sensitivity of your emotions. I promise not to check to see if it was really you.

...my reply was basically an example. let's say a member has been info warned about making anonymous topics concerning wetting the bed or something. i see an anonymous topic about wetting the bed. the topic isn't against the guidelines so it shouldn't be trashed, but i suspect it's this particular member. i check who it is, and then take the appropriate action against the member.
