http://www.nytimes.com/packages/flash/multimedia/20070430_WISDOM/?scp=2&sq=wisdom test&st=cse How do you score? [I'm only putting this in the Intellectual forum because it'll stay up longer.]
-- Posted by maceyface at 2:48 pm on Dec. 8, 2008
i scored 4.1. these are words to certify that i am capable of producing a verbose post even though i am uncertain that there is much more to say.

http://www.nytimes.com/packages/flash/multimedia/20070430_WISDOM/?scp=2&sq=wisdom test&st=cse This link works better. Yours isn't working for me.

2.8 That is the score received on the test that OP first prompted in the original post

4.3 I don't really see how that is a wisdom test, though... It seems sort of a test for morals and empathetic skills.

Your score: 4.3 You have relatively high wisdom. Though I fail to see how these questions relate to wisdom more than being able to empathise with other people and listen to them.

Your Score 2.7 And I concur with this.

A different wisdom test from my psychology book: A fifteen-year-old girl wants to get married. Is this a good idea and what kind of stuff might she consider?

How has that got anything to do with being wise? it's more to do with you being able to reason and understand why a 15 year old might want to get married, and using logical reasons to explain why it's not the best idea. It is largely dependant upon the specifics of the situation though.

Unanswerable. What are the conditions? Is she wealthy, poor, middle-class? Does she have a child [15 isn't too young for that these days, as we all know]? How old is the man? Why is she contemplating marriage? These things all change the level of "acceptability" of this situation.
-- Posted by SomeoneSaveUs at 3:00 pm on Dec. 8, 2008
I got a 4.3. I agree that I don't see the wisdom part of this test.

this is also a cultural issue that has absolutely nothing to do with wisdom.

how? What does the proverbial "wise-man" answer to this question? Being wise has nothing to do with one's morals [at least not one's personal morals, a wise person knows morality] and more to do with an overall deep understanding of the world, how it works, how people work/interact, and take great meaning of of his/her experiences.

not when you look at it culturally, take sociology instead of psychology its a lot more practical

3.3. I have relatively moderate wisdom.
-- Posted by ckenyon at 1:15 pm on Dec. 14, 2008
First time, honestly: 3.5 Second time, pretty much playing to what I figured the test wanted: 4.8 The test is an assessment of whether you can judge what is and what is not the "wisest" action or emotion. Only fools and Yoda say that everything they do is the wisest action. I think that recognizing that you do not always take the most rational, sympathetic, or consistent path is wiser than believing you're always right.

I scored a 4.1 by selecting answer 5 all the way through.

ha! you are so far not wise its actually funny

Your score: 4.1. You have relatively high wisdom. Pretty good for 16, in my opinion.
-- Posted by pseudo neurosis at 10:16 pm on Dec. 15, 2008
I scored a 4 but I am very empathetic. To the point of potentially dangerous naivete, which is not wise at all. Wisdom would be knowing when to be empathetic and when not to be.
-- Posted by Scui at 10:34 pm on Dec. 15, 2008
3.6 I'm not empathetic. As a certified LiveWire Intellectual I am indubitably capable of composing a more verbose post, but as a certified LiveWire Intellectual I am also capable of seeing when verbosity is unecessary, as it is in this topic which has asked for scores and not long winded answers of huge analysis.

4.2 but the premise of the test is ridiculous. verbosssssity
-- Posted by roflfuckyou at 7:26 am on Dec. 21, 2008
4.3 but the questions are based on a likert scale and aren't very efficient in rating anything. The questions on this test barely have anything to do with wisdom and more with relating to other people.
