does getting blood work done hurt? what do they test for. im scared
-- Posted by marshmellowman at 2:48 pm on Dec. 11, 2008
Normally they just take a blood sample, and that is tested separately in a lab. It doesn't really hurt much at all. Just stick the needle into the vein and fill up a vacuutainer. What they test for? Depends on what they're looking for, whether they want specific bacterial cultures, full blood count (white cells, red cells, etc), Iron, electrolytes, etc.

Basically, they just stick a needle in your arm for a minute. It really isn't that bad. I've had it done to me a lot!

taking blood feels like a small prick in your arm, the reason most people faint is they panic and thier blood vessles constrict and they go down for the count. or some people feel werid when they feel the blood leaving them and that makes them feel a little ill. you can test for just about anything with blood! its that cool!
