Okay. So i'll describe me and you'll see why my conservative McCain loving family hates me for my ideals: I'll admit i'm a dreamer. I actually DO think that in some way, i can help the world; perhaps not save it, but maybe help it from destructing itself. I belive in the obvious ideals such as peace, freedom, the importance of an open mind, etc; I can debate with the best of republicans in class and usually win. If not a hippie, people consider me socialist; i really cant understand why we all cant get along. Earth Day is every day to me, and i pick up trash with my free time, recycle it, and donate it to a good cause. As far as appearances go, it works for me as well. I have long super wavy unmanigable hair, and olive skin. I hate shoes, i love to wear tons of colors, layers are awesome, and the best jewlrey is usually looks like a plant. Probama? yes. More than no, anyway. I'm pretty anti-establishment and very anti capitalism, but i've discovered that until i'm 18, i have to live with the fact that i HAVE to be apart of it's corrupt system. By 18, though, i'll have already joined the peace corps. I am a vegeatarian, and i'm not as radical is you might think. I'm an au naturale kind of person, and just LET ME BE ME. I express myself through kind words and bold art; am i hippie? probably. ARE YOU?

Wow. Are you really that interested in how we would LABEL you?

I'm not a hippie. I don't have a label.

Something tells me your understanding of the world is very little.

I wouldve loved to be in the 60's cuz it actually stood for something and was inovative, now meh. good for you though for trying to change things (but vegetarian is one thing i could never do)

you're cool. but trust me, when your 18 you'll be trapped in this corrupt system more than ever before. plus do you know the acceptance rates for the peace corps? it's reallyyyy competitive to get in that program, they don't just chose anybody. sorry to sound like a drag but i'm just being realitic, and believe it or not i have the same type of idealistic personality as you do, but as an 18 year old i'm just stating the facts

Well, I hold a lot of socialist ideologies, I have unimaginable long wavy hair, I enjoy recycling and get angry at people when they do things that either directly of indirectly effect the environment, I advocate for open-mindedness and philosophical questions that often don't have answers, I am usually openly anti-establishment (people know when I don't agree with something about my society), I tried to be vegetarian but had to stop because I began to have health issues, I play music, And that is all I can think of right now.
Do you think I fit the criteria?
-- Posted by naturechild at 10:07 pm on Dec. 14, 2008
actually, my understanding of the world would be a great deal. BEcause i'm idealistic that makes me stupid, or uneducated? i understand that i propbably will make a little to no change; but doing my part is enough for me. If going to the Sudan to help someone while risking my life is stupid because i am "uneduacated" then i think it is YOU who is uneducated, because following what you believe (wihtout being detrimental to anyone else) is most important. like ghandi said, "be the change you want to be in the world"

Guess again.

A lot of that describes me.
Except for the part where I recognize the necessity of war as a way to manage the human population. And I'm fiscally conservative.
I don't like welfare and subsidies.

You're asking if you fit the criteria. Before we can do that, we must establish the criteria. What is the criteria to be labelled a hippie?

You're also pretentious.

My favorite song about hippies:
Wendell brought it to life in his guest room bath tub It was a special project for his 4-H club But it broke loose out in the middle of the night And now it's eatin' flower children left and right
All the punks are gonna scream "Yippee!" 'Cause it's the thing that only eats hippies
First it cruised on out to Malibu And ate a couple of surfers Who where too tough to chew So it slithered it's way Out to old Irvine And ate a couple of hippies And they tasted just fine
Now its got a sweet tooth for long hair So Bob and Greg and Grant you should beware
Following the Dead is how it gets it's kicks Shame it wasn't born in 1966 Listens to the music and begins to sway Dreamin' acid dreams of a hippie souffle Hey hey hey
What do they taste like? Some kinda treat? How many hippies can this monster eat? It ate Stills and Nash before they could shout And then it chewed on David Crosby But it spit him out
All the punks are gonna scream "Yippee!" 'Cause it's the thing that only eats hippies
There it goes Gonna send 'em all to that big Folk Festival in the sky So long suckers!
