I personally believe that the magnitude of this economical crisis will be bigger than anything civilisation has ever expirienced. There are signs of the global economy totally collapsing - I think the 30s depression might have been a piece of cake compared to this. Because the worlds economy has never ever been as global as this before. All in all I'm extremly worried now because of the latest events (car corporations being at risk for bankruptcy) My two cents.

You live in Finland. Why would you really care?
-- Posted by mowntindufreq at 12:11 pm on Dec. 17, 2008
i'll admit it worries me a bit when i hear a country has declared bankruptcy (iceland) but it's hard to worry too much when it's not just us, but virutally EVERYONE whose economy is fucked... after all, it's pretty relative in the long run, no?

I'm really worried because I won't get my Tickle Me Elmo for Christmas.

I'm not worried at all. I like the end of the world >: )
-- Posted by jamesish at 12:12 pm on Dec. 17, 2008
O, I see what you mean. Yeah, it's only going to get worse. Unfortunately.
-- Posted by DemolitionxXxLover at 12:12 pm on Dec. 17, 2008
I'm not sure about it getting worse than the Great Depression. The thing is, back then they didn't have as many means of dealing with it than they do now. However, if things get really bad, I'm going to the moon.

The U.S. isn't the only country in trouble. Since countries have dependence on other countries this is a global issue.

dude, its definitely not rock bottom yet. next year will be the worst of it. as a college student with lots of shit to pay for, yeah i'm really worried. my state has had to cut budgets for public schools like mine, and a LOT of classes have been cut, and i might not be able to carry on with the major that i pick... its a pretty intense situation

Honestly I don't care too much. I figure if the world's going down I'm going with it, worrying wont do anything to prevent it. I think there's a high possibility everything's going to crash soon, but we jsut have to see what happens, I'm not stressing over it.

the fact that thr whole world is suffering is worrying, but if people didn't make such a big deal out of it we wouldn't have a problem at all.

I'm not all that worried. Just like with Global warming the media and economist are making way to much of it. This situation isn't even close to some of the economic meltdowns that have occured in the past. No need to get so worried about it. It wont all be easy but we will make it through.

The thing is that because this is so global now - It will collapse economy after economy in a domino effect. The technology avaible today has made this world a small big apple - We're too affected by each others economies. Only people not affected are the people living ''primitive life.'' There will be millions upon millions of people affected by this if this truely becomes a global depression.

This is why my family is turning our garden into a huge vegetable patch, and buying chickens.
-- Posted by Savren at 10:27 am on Dec. 19, 2008
Yeah I'm worried, many should be. These bail outs are stupid, we are just letting the inevitable drag on. Let the inevitable happen NOW and new businesses will rise from the ashes of these big ones. Thats how it needs to be.

Not worried at all. Our mortgage is 18%, there's no hope of reposession. Big companies are starting to fall left, right and centre (Woolworths, MFI is on its way out, all of the US motor industry, most of the rest of the motor trade), this leaves a lot of opportunities for my generation when we pick up the pieces. I'm already planning on possible future enterprises. It's the best thing that could possibly of happened, crashing at this moment. The only downside is that any potential landlords for my house for second year of my uni course may be reposessed, leaving me stranded half way through. I guess we'll just have to ask about our landlord's situation before renting...

Extremely worried.

It's taken a toll. We've really had to cut back. No Christmas tree, no gifts, etc.
-- Posted by bluenight at 6:18 pm on Dec. 20, 2008
somewhat but in 3 years or so it will be getting better
-- Posted by Ju5tin at 7:37 pm on Dec. 20, 2008
Personally, I'm not worried at all. My family is financially secure. Also, our province is actually BENEFITING in this time, rather than crippling. Saskatchewan's economy is booming... at least, for now it is; I can't say what it will be like in the future.
-- Posted by Hoop Jargon at 3:08 am on Dec. 21, 2008
The real economic collapse is going to come about 5-10 years after the economy recovers and demand for raw materials increases and a re-strengthened China exhausts every conceivable natural resource. THAT's going to be fucked.

Well the bubble only popped because people started making a big deal out of it :P If people were more relaxed about repayments...
