You have to find a new outlet for stress. I turned to working out myself.

Don't cut, scream into a pillow.

It's hard when I started I never knew it would be an addiction, whenever i get stressed, it is the only thing i can think of. I haven't done it for a while, but I still think about it every day. I don't know what to tell ya

i used to hate people who cut themselves to " get rid of the pain" but then i got close to someone who does it, you just really need someone there with you, Ive never cut before, but when im angry to the point that i think i might do something bad, i go out running, or work out, it really helps your channel your feelings

When i tried to stop it made me even more stressed out, then i decided i needed someone elses help. Talk to someone who wont judge you, try your best friend or a close family member. Keep i diary or a journal. When you just cant take it anymore. Write about it.

I know you said in a non-people way, but talk to someone. Whether it be your best friend, your parents, boyfriend/girlfriend, school counselor, anything. Talking about it is the first step. Trust me.

I used to self-harm really bad about a year ago, cutting, burning, etc, and still do sometimes. What you need to do is to concentrate on reducing, before stopping entirely. What's really useful is if you keep a rubber band around your wrist, and ping it against the soft inside but instead of cutting, or hold onto ice cubes until they melt.

The rubber band around the wrist thing is really helpful, I've tried that for a while and now i dont cut as much as i used to, only twice in the past month so i'm quite proud =]
