I love how there is really no coverage in the US about the student/workers uprising in Greece.. or that fact that there is videos of police dressed up as anarchists smashing shops up to undermine the uprising

we discussed it in my international relations class.

GO ANARCHY!!!

Would you honestly think they would show this? It is a revolutionary situation and they cannot try to promote this as it could happen here. I am happy with the workers and students involved though.

that sounds more like a civil dispute, and really has nothing to do with the US, we have our own problems, we cant get involved everytime some idiot does something stupid

what are you talking about?...we are invovled..we sell arms to greece

I could cry out loud I'm so angry about what is going on...and clearly that's all that they people, PASOK, and Karamanlis are willing to do. This has nothing to do with anarchy, and the anarchists that are protesting would only worsen the country with their policies. Its a mess that no one is willing to clean up, even though the cost of cleaning it up is less than the cost of messing it up due to that fact that its so messed up already. God bless my third-world, EU country.

I don't know what you're talking about, I've seen numerous articles about it on MSNBC.

Not for you...though I think that Greece is far worse off as a country than is the US right now.

This is a classic case of mob psychology. The kids are being manipulated and controlled by the hardcore anarchists, who are really trying to incite revolution. The kids are just sheep, following along in looting and burning. All because a policeman's bullet ricocheted and hit some guy who was breaking the law. They are not a threat to the United States, so of course the mainstream media is not interested.

Just like ousting the republicans from power in the united states was "mob mentality"

Yes, you are right about that. At least a part of the Democrats' support came through conformity and mob psychology. But at least the new Democrats did not get out of control like this.

It seemed to me that at least some people were angry at the system because those around them were, and so they felt that they should confirm.

True, but there was also a lot for a lot of people to be angry about...

Not nearly as bad or as widespread as what the Greeks thought they were protesting, though.
-- Posted by GoloSLB at 9:49 pm on Dec. 22, 2008
Not as widespread. As far as internal problems...this wasn't 1973 either. I think everyone everywhere in Europe was just frustrated because Europe is going down the crapper after all that hard work and there is absolutely nothing they can do about it.
