Lately I have been getting quite a few conversations started by offline contacts and all it is, is a link. I have never clicked on the link but it happens too often so I am assuming its a virus. If it is how do I remove it, my anti-virus is obviously not picking it up.

It is most likely that it is them that has the virus.

What link is it?

oohhh i got that last year a few times.  i don't think its you with the virus, its the guy sending you the virus.

i also got the virus myself because i clicked on the link (i'm stupid when it comes to those things).  it just kinda went away after a while, my security programs must've picked it up

yeh its a virus. if they have your username and password they send the message to everyone on that persons contact list.

Just close the message window and you will be safe.

if you click it it'll take to to a site and get you to type in your email and password so that when you're offline it sends that link to all of your contacts and it just keeps spreading. dont click it. it doesnt do anything to anything but your msn account

if you are getting the links from your contacts that normally means they have the virus.

I hate those things i got one once :(

tell them to do a virus scan

Can you read what the URLs are? If the URL sounds funny, such as the domain name, and then it is very long and sounds suspicious, then don't click it.

It is a virus that if you click the link a file is downloaded without you giving permission the virus installed can vary it also sends the link you click to all of your contacts everytime you log on i think. Be sure to warn all your contacts not to click as they will not be pleased if they find out it is a virus you sent and not what it claims to be.

  • Do not click the links!

This is most likely your friends being stupid and letting their information getting used to spread the problem.

The best way to fix this is to let your friends know, and have them change their login informations.
