I might get vista 64bit later on. My system bus can go up to 1333 but my processor is at 800. I figure I'll just upgrade the processor later and buy new ram and use the extra parts for another system. Anyways, any suggestions on which I should go between these choices? Or do you have anything cheap but is good quality? Also does windows vista 64bit make a folder for 32bit applications? I've heard that 64bit OS's have problems with 32bit applications. -- Posted by rand0mguy at 12:15 am on Dec. 27, 2008 pros and cons of 64 bit (vista 64 bit): start with cons: 1. harder to find drivers, and since x64 cant run x86 drivers you can not install some programs 2. cant run 16 bit apps either, which you may think you never use anyway, but on xp, a small portion of apps are still 16 bit.. 3. basically, there are not enough x64 apps for windows, which means that the only reason you would want to install it would be if you were running highly supported, mainstream apps, such as msoffice, firefox etc pro: well, since technology hasn't really caught up to the 64 bit generation, unless you are installing massive amounts of Ram on your computer, i don't think there is any. -- Posted by Darkane at 3:52 am on Dec. 27, 2008 If you're going to have 4gb or more of RAM then you should stick to a 64bit os. For the most part Vista 64bit will run 32bit apps fine, but as said before a main issue is going to be drivers but these are getting more and more support anyway so it shouldn't become too much of an issue. -- Posted by Byble at 9:32 am on Dec. 27, 2008 If your going to add another 4GB of RAM, that will mean you will have 6GB of RAM. XP 32bit can only register 4, and Vista 32bit can registers less than four, its weird it takes into count ram from other places or something.. So if you want the full affects of your RAM, get 64bit operating system.... or just get 4GB of RAM in total. Also why don't you get 4GB of RAM and buy another processor if your right on money.... get at least  a Duo Core :). On my Computer i have 3GB of ram and Quad Core Processor, so like yh.. lol
