Is there a way to keep a second view of the image so you can see the overall effect on the picture while zoomed in to work on detail?

Photobucket? I assume you mean photoshop. and That'd cost him either $800 or he'd have to illegally download it, and it's closed source. Some people want to do things free and legally, or some merely support open source, or some of us run Linux and can't get a version of Photoshop. Also, in regards to your question.. Sadly I don't think so. Maybe suggest that for the next version? That is the benefit of Open source.. modifying code to suit your purpose.
