That I needed to find something to live for other than love, because he said that I can't simply choose to follow someone when they are gone.

Can someone tell me what?

No; you need to find it on your own.

No; you need to find it on your own.

Then why can't it be love?

Because it isn't healthy to put your entire life in the hands of someone else. You cannot depend on someone entirely because people make mistakes, die, etc. You need to first depend on yourself.

What would happen if your entire life revolved around someone else and that person did something unspeakable to you? or died? ..  I mean, It's not that you can't but the healthiest thing would be to know how to set up a boundaries. That does not mean you cannot love someone, just that you cannot make someone the center of your universe and your only reason of existence.

There's more to life than love. Yeah, Love is a big thing, we all search for it, but what about friendship, commitment, achievements, family? ... You can make love an important thing in your life; have it present in every thing you do and still manage to live a successful and healthy life.

Why is that wrong though? To have someone be your sole reason for existence? Nothing they could do to me would be unspeakable enough to  drive me away, and if they died...well, the consequence would be kinda obvious.

All the things you've mentioned, they don't bring me happiness, only one person does.
