Then people should stop when they feel they're happy. You can always want more, you can always improve what you have. That leads to a disposable culture, where people, things, ideas etc are all made into throwaway commodities which are not valued in themselves but grasped at and then disposed of when attained in search of the next better new thing. I don't wish people were still going in carts. I like the computer, and the iPod, and cells. People thought that the earth was flat but that was a dumb idea and it changed. Sure there are advantages, but I'd be quite happy if all we had were carts. Very few people thought the earth was flat in Europe since the Ancient Greeks discovered that it was round.
