I go to college in Ontario, and I've just finished my first semester. I haven't paid my second semester fees for tuition and residence yet, and I'm on student loans. I really hate my program and I wanted to transfer to another college, the program starting in September '09. The thing is I have no idea where to start. There's so many questions I have and nobody is around to answer them - which is why I've come here. I can either drop out and start in September, or finish the year and start in September.

- Would it be really stupid to drop out?
- Would OSAP make me repay within 6 months even though I'm applying to another school?

uh those are all the questions I can think of right now, feel free to ask me anything if I haven't explained it clearly, or if you just want to know!

Can you elaborate a little?

You will probably have to pay interest if you drop out.
Dropping out may also effect your eligibility for another loan, where you to take one.

What are you taking?

I'm taking fashion arts, and I'm going to contact OSAP about that. I've never heard of that but now I'm going to have to ask about it.
Because I did decide to drop out, but now I have more questions. Thank you!

What are you going to be applying to for September '09?

Community and Justice Services, at Centennial.

I know in the US, if you drop out of the school you were getting loans for, you have the amount of time to pay for them that was agreed upon as if you graduated.

If you're unsure about them, I definitely would talk to the OSAP about it and get a direct answer from them. This could ruin you, financially, if you don't get it taken care of in the best way you can.

You actually can't talk to OSAP directly, you have to speak to financial aid at your school. Which I did yesterday, and she said I was fine :) In the end I've decided to drop out, so this thread really isn't needed!
