Don't EVER let your family or ANYONE decide on a major decision like that for you. Do it behind her back, or whatever, I don't care. But that decision could affect the rest of your life. Don't let someone hold you back like that...

There was a country wide restriction of five universities because of the way the system works. I was limited to four medical school choices though, and the last spot had to be a non-medicine course.

How about you fucking explain your stupid bullshit remark then, instead of doing what you always do and making yourself look like a retard.

my parents didnt care, but they probably would have whined if the app fees were really high

I only applied to one. Luckily, I got in. My parents didn't give me any limit, but they knew I was only applying to one.

Sometimes, you have no choice on that. Especially when it comes to who's footing the bill. I personally applied to 2 schools- though I had originally planned on applying to about 5 schools. But as soon as I got word from the first school which was my first choice, I threw away the apps and cheered with joy (obviously I got in). I was also lucky, because I didn't have to pay for the fees as I had waivers for that thanks to the program I was in.

I applied to 10. Was gonna be 11, but the last school I was really only looking at to be near my BF who then broke up with me.
