If you went on a water fast for 7 days (only drinking water, no food or anything else) and you were already thin, how much weight would you lose? Don't tell me it's dangerous, fasting is a natural thing, I'm just worried that if I do this fast I'll look anorexic by the time I'm through. I am NOT doing this for weight loss.

half a pound of body fat a day, 2 pounds of water weight a day

A lot.

To be honest, I don't think you could lose enough weight in a week to make you suddenly look anorexic. I mean, it'll depend on the person, their metabolism and the like... but it's possible you won't notice anything too visible.

So I might look gross right when I come off, but when I add carbs back I'll look normal again?

i dont think the physical effects would be too drastic but more the mental ones, lack of energy, dizzyness etc but as someone alreadt said it varies based on the persons body

I would do the monthly Ramadan fasting as a test of will. For a whole month, I can't eat or drink anything as long as the sun is up (by all technicalities, you aren't even supposed to swallow spit and the like). Either way... Some fasting can be good for your body, some people say it can clear your system out. Others do it as a test of will... there's many different reasons. Either way, fasting is probably a bad way to lose weight. In this case, any weight the OP did lose he/she would gain right back pretty quickly.

Fasting is supposedly a very soulful experience, because you are thriving on your soul instead of earthly needs. I've been told it gets people closer to God, or opens up their eyes further.
