This is going to be a bit of a read, so I'll post a summary of it at the bottom.
So there is a friend of mine, I've known her literally all my life, her mom and my mom are best friends. We were supposed to hang out last night (the night before my birthday)
My other friend says that hes having a birthday party, and that I have to come (we have the same birthday party). So I ask if I can bring this girl because I already had plans with her, he says sure. (Note that no one at the party had met this girl before)
Anyway we're at the party, my other friend (not mentioned yet) who usually gets more obnoxious as he drinks gets also physically abusive. Now I've known him to be jokingly abusive towards us, but not towards people he's never even met, so I told her that he can be very obnoxious, but didn't warn her about that. At about 3 in the morning, he starts hitting the girl I brought with his cane (he broke his ankle a few weeks ago) and throwing her off of the couch because he was trying to force her to drink more and she said no.
She ends up going upstairs crying because he was being a complete dick to her, I try to comfort her, she says shes already called a ride and is leaving. (We were originally just going to crash there). Completely pissed off, I get mine and her stuff and tell them all I'm leaving. My friend (the abusive one) comes up and asks me whats wrong, and I told him that because he was being such a dick, she is leaving and I am too.
So on my way home, I get texts from the host, and hes accusing me of a) ruining the party, and b) being at blame for this whole situation. I justify myself by telling him that my abusive friend had NEVER acted like that towards a complete stranger before, yet his response is 'You know him, he acts like that, its all your fucking fault'. He is also accusing me of 'thinking with my dick' because I left because I was pissed off with them. The host is calling me a dick because I made my friend cry when I told him how much he was being a dick to her, and that he should be excused because that's how he acts when he drinks.

Summary: I bring a friend to a birthday party (no one there knows her), she ends up getting abused by one of my friends to the point where she resorts to leaving, pissed off I leave too, the host says its my fault because she is too emotional to be physically abused by complete strangers.

Who is wrong in this situation?

P.S. What a great fucking birthday.

the fuckers who abused her and your fuck friend who hosted it

Your drunk friend is in the wrong. You've done nothing.

Find new friends.
They suck ass.

This is not your fault. You might have known that he gets this way when he is drunk, but seriously, you didn't know he would do that to a complete stranger. That's such an invasion of this girls trust and privacy. If that guy gets that way when he drinks, then he should be smart enough to drink less, if at all.

In my opinion you chose the right side and you should stick to it. If your friends are accusing you of this shit then they aren't very good friends.

Happy Birthday.

Your drunk friend is in the wrong. You've done nothing.

What completely dumbfounds me is how the host can be such a dick to me, blaming everything on me just because I confronted the abuser about his actions.

Of course not you.  You may know your friend is 'abusive', but that does NOT make it correct.  It's your friend's fault for drinking when he knows he acts like that.  It isn't your job to protect yourself from someone that's dangerous... it's HIS job to keep himself from reaching that point.

It's complete bull to point the finger at you.

Not your fault, Is the guy with the broken ankle

Next time you see him, kick it out from underneath him.

Thanks.
I'm sticking to the girl's side, no matter how 'pussy whipped' they think I am.
I can't excuse my friend's actions just because he was drinking, he was still a complete fuck to a total stranger.
And now I've got my other friend hounding me for this.

Uggh it's fucked.

The host is wrong in his accusations and your drunk friend is to blame for all the trouble and drama but you should have warned your girl about his abusive behaviour and plus you shouldn't be friends with a total douche bag that hits people with canes.

-- Posted by TeaPotHead at 11:01 am on Dec. 28, 2008

when they stop being drunk they'll prolly realize that they're in the wrong, not you

-- Posted by Mikayla007 at 11:03 am on Dec. 28, 2008

so not your fault, tottally the drunk and the host

-- Posted by senior09 at 11:04 am on Dec. 28, 2008

Your not at fault for this

-- Posted by LiLFLAKA at 11:11 am on Dec. 28, 2008

Its both of the guys fault not yours
the drunk guy for hitting the girl and the host because he
should have done something to stop this
