You take a step back to realise it's yourself with a hat on. You reach out and take the hat and put it on. you then run away as your future self disappears back to the future. And hour later you are randomly sent back in time. you meet yourself, who takes the hat off your head and runs away as you are sped back into the future. The real question here is where could the hat have come from. To  be within the bounds of universal law, it would have to began with, say, one's "future self" picking up said hat in the park and THEN going back in time.
