I really hate it when a racist or prejudice generalization is obviously made and people deny it just because the person who said it was in their race. Like I'll take a real example that actually happened. On youtube Ex: A journalist says referring to the OJ case " I know people like this, they kill and then go have some chicken at KFC. Commenter 1: OMG that was so prejudice! Commenter 2: He wasn't being prejudice, I like KFC too, you just think everything is racist. I mean come on now, it was obviously clear that the person was stereotyping that all black people like KFC. You don't need eyes to see that. Though people feel that to make their race look more innocent, they need to deny that what that person said was wrong. It backfires anyways because if your defending someone who made a racist statement, it only makes me think less of you. It's better to disagree with what that person is saying despite the fact that he could be the same race as you, rather than pretend it wasn't racist. I notice this a lot. I mean if someone of my race made a racist statement, I would be like " Hay that was wrong, you need to chill." I wouldn't be defending that person.

I wouldn't want you defending me either, teenie.

Agreed.

I agree with all of this, nothing more to say.

racists who can't admit it are so much fail man.

People that think stuff is racist when it isn't are so much fail. (In that sentence, "So much" must actually be a contraction and adverb, while "fail" is an adjective - despite it actually being a verb or rarely a noun)

And people who pretend things weren't meant to be racist are more fail. I'd rather have a person admit that something was wrong other than say it wasn't.

I'd rather someone not call everything racist and learn to find a new word.

Your switching subjects. So if someone obviously said something prejudice or racist, would you pretend that it wasn't wrong just because they were the same race as you or would you speak up? Knowing you, you would probably try to argue with the person saying it was racist/prejudice if anything.

I wouldn't speak up regardless of who said it or what race they were. I don't care about "Racist" statements.

Well if it wasn't then I might - but I'd probably just ignore it.

Sure. So if someone was being racially attacked in a public place would you say something in their defense? I doubt someone like you would. There was a thing on Oprah about how people in the USA reacted to racist attacks. It was an experiment. Some didn't say anything and some even agreed to the racist attack. Which person would you be?

I didn't see a question.

You mean attacked with words? Well I wouldn't chose a person of one race over another.
I doubt someone like you would.
"Someone like you" - that's a good one. I could say a lot of things about "Someone like you" but I'd have to revert to "someTHING like you" for it to be gramatically correct. Answer me - what is "Someone like me" really?

I don't watch Opera and I don't give a shit about people in the USA.

It's as you said, someone like you wouldn't give a shit if someone was being racially attacked. I think I rest my case...... The question was if you would speak up for someone who was being racially attacked like told to get out of the store because they were Arabic or so.

Well, no - but I wouldn't really do anything if a White was kicked out of a store for whatever reason. And if I was kicked out of a store for being White - I wouldn't get all pissed and go to the press and the police like some people. It's a free country and I think that if you don't like it leave.

Discrimination is illegal. Having all white or black stores is illegal. Someone should go to the press and just because people aren't as careless as you about their rights, doesn't mean they should be considered "whining too much"

I know it's illegal. But that doesn't mean I should care. If they peacefully tell them (or me) to leave, White, Black, Mestizo, etc - I won't care.

No because you said it's a "free country". The post that you just quoted contradicts that the 'Free country" part applies to people who kick you out of a store because of your race. *Huge sigh*

My views on freedom are truer than what the US views freedom as. If it doesn't physically, financially, etc. harm anyone - than you should be able to do it.
-- Posted by Moonscar at 9:23 pm on Dec. 30, 2008
Well your outlook on freedom is not logical and not fair. Discrimination is illegal and wrong. That's all I am going to say.

I think that you should have the right to let Johnny in your house but not Sally if you really want to. And if Sally really wants what you apparently have - she can go get it somewhere else. Because you should NOT be FORCED to be "Tolerant" if you don't feel the need to. But don't take that as me being discriminatory or intolerant to nonWhites - as it isn't true.

I was implying someone used that exact same shitty insult on you and you, ingeniously, stole it and saved it up and let it sit for a month or two and threw it in a necessary post. :D

kk, he wasnt being racist, end of story, what the other commentor said about "i like KFC too" makes sense and is a fine argument. HE said I know these kinds of people, not "I know his people's ways". The first implies that he is speaking about criminals specifically ones that are emotionally detached giving them the ability to kill and then non chalantly go to KFC. The second example would be an implication he is speaking about black people. Honestly it was coincidental that he said KFC, i don't think this convo would have started had he said Burger King or Pho Ti or something like that. having said that I dislike people who cannot admit that they said something racist. I may not like racists but I appreciate at least when someone admits their views, after that point they have the option to change if they dont, not my intial problem, wait till they screw up and piss off the wrong person and then they will get what is coming to them.
