I was reading Dante's Inferno and is it really considered a sin to love another human being more than God? If so, why?

well 1st: Dante is not God so he doesn't always know what's best 2nd: ...just like every other holy writer. they get confused sometimes. mixed up. they're only human.

i don't think it is a sin at all. he gave us free will. i think as long as you love god, then it is just fine to love someone else more then him.

No other human being loves you like God, what human being would do what he did for you?

because God is supposed to be almighty. You shouldn't put anyone or thing before God.

Its a sin because God is supposed to come before eveything else. He is our Father.

Yes, idolization is frowned upon. Loving a human more than God is considered a sin because that human is a creation of God, all things come from God, so he should be loved the highest.

Look up the different kinds of love. The love a person may have for God is different from the love they have for, say, their parents which is different from the love they have for a lover/spouse which is different from the love they have for a child. So, to answer your question from my perspective, no, I don't believe it's a sin...

Well, I'd say it's easier to love something you can actually see...

Thus it makes it easier for those who follow the meme blindly to kill other people. Of course God of the OT is basically a megalomaniac. Logic: What Creator needs the love of his/her creation but a narcissist?

Or maybe your God would benefit from some Leo Buscaglia videos. If any form of loving is 'sin' then our meaning of the word 'sin' is obtuse. Why would the Almighty Creator be so insecure?

Well said in my opinion.
