I know religious people who are highly intelligent. If I were God, I'd smite you. Tight spot? No. God could be replaced with 'anyone', anything...its simply looking up at the sky, the stars, looking hope. And 'God' fit what i meant the best. I believed in him when i was younger but as i grew i stopped. I still believe that when you die, your dead. I'd rather that then going to heaven i think.
