Collapse this year in 2009 here in America, What are you people doing to prepare? Or are you like most people who have no clue what's going on?

i don't predict a complete collapse in the upcoming year though it's possible and not entirely unwelcome

I definitely know what's going on. I'm planning on moving out of the country as the economy takes it's last couple of breaths.

don't save those dollars. They will be worthless. Get into gold or silver to preserve your wealth. But food and water come first!

I heard a guy on Larry King the other night saying that some things are being blown way out of proportion. He said the stats actually show that a little over 80% of Americans still have their jobs and either the same income or a little higher income than last year. We are nowhere near a collapse. Just bad business practices hitting some companies hard. America will survive. Don't buy into the fearmongers' tactics.

Don't ever watch the MSM (Mainstream media) Haven't you learned that yet? sheesh. They said we weren't going into a Recession all the way from the end of 2007 up until November of 2008 until they finally said "YES WE'VE BEEN IN A RECESSION SINCE THE 4TH QUARTER OF 2007." They always state things AFTER THE FACT, when it's plain obvious for everyone to see.

Well the economic troubles touched pretty close to home for me I kid you not, this morning a lot of people at my job got laid off and they gave them no prior warning or anything! My friend was one of those people who called and told me (I was off today). Luckily I'm not one of those people but I'm saving for college right now and i could really do with some stability in order to plan. Thankfully I'm on the verge of getting another job in my career field soon (hopefully) but still, these people have kids and families to feed.....

I keep my saving spread about. Sometimes I'll invest in a Blue Chip company like Cadbury's, BP, or Pearson. Most of the time I'll be looking to save on direct debits, reducing my monthly payments, and taking a new bank account out with Alglo-Irish Bank. They're offering 5% bonds for a standard 12 months. Also spreading some money into Abbey Offshore, who are offering 6%-12%. The Euro is unwelcome even in my country. It's forced inflation up on the island where I used to live by 40% since January 2008. My reckoning is this April in the UK, income tax will come down. But only this year. Next tax year it'll be up higher again. It's good that petrol prices have lowered.
