To a degree I think. In a way, I think we all drink to "stop thinking about things" sometimes. I mean, in social settings people drink a little to loosen up, have a good time, kind of let go of the stress of the week. I don't really see any harm in doing that at all. I think the problem is when you're doing it as a means of coping with everything you're dealing with. By that, I mean that if you're getting drunk because you're completely miserable with your life, you aren't doing yourself any favors. Yeah, it feels good....but when you wake up again sober you're right where you left off. Soon enough, you can start using it as a way of replacing any other coping mechanism. That's when the real problems begin.

Drink to drink, never associate using drugs with a certain situation because in the end, this learn behavior can be quite damaging.
