No, you can't. An LS6 454 from a 1970 Chevelle had 450 horsepower. The ones in these trucks had 255. It all depends on the internal parts and the restrictions on the engines.

The guy I helped with racing last summer has a C10 Chevy with a 454 dropped in. Not a GMT400 Series like my Cheyenne or the 454SS C1500 Silverado, but still bad ass.

I would almost take a '94 Lightning over the 454SS though. Especially in appearances. In my humble opinion, Chevy should have used the egg-crate grill from the Cheyenne or W/T on the 454SS. Would have added to the bad ass factor.

I read a Motor Trend article where they tested the Lightning vs the SS and the Lightning was better in most ways.
I really just like the look of the SS, and the ton of torque it puts out.
About the grill, personally I like the one they came with a lot more.
