I've had nothing but trouble with my HP all in one something or other printer for the past 4 years. funnily enough, I never even thought about buying a new one.

Well, now I did and I just want something that prints. I don't need to scan, I don't need to copy...just print. My boss has a scanner that he lets me use and my father has a huge copy machine. I do not need it.

I just need a printer that prints out good quality typed things and maybe, once in a while, a few images.

I stumbled upon a canon one. Good company, or should they stick to cameras?

Canon makes amazing printers.

I have the Canon MP830, which is overkill for what you need, but it prints 22 pages per minute, and pictures come out nicely.

We used to have a Canon a while ago, but it wasn't very reliable, and ever since we switched to HP we've not really experienced any problems. Granted the situation has probably changed by now, but personally I'd stick to HP. I'm sure buying a Canon printer wouldn't be a mistake though, they're both great companies.
