Seeing the controversy that the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings created, I wonder what would the situation be if it was the Russians that used them, and not Americans. But, to keep the point, take it that Russian bombings wouldn't have changed anything, because that is not what I'm aiming at. My question is: would the bombings be more or less justified, especially these days?

I guess that they would be seen as an act of genocide, or something similar, because it was Russians who did them (from a western point of view, obviously). What do you think?

Honestly I dislike World War II because I do not think that either side was right.  I can't stand the Nazis and their fascism, but then I don't think the allies were morally superior either.  The justification was that it put an end to World War II, but even if the Japanese were our enemy at the time, I don't see a massive slaughter of people ever necessary.

If this is not the answer you're looking for, my apologies.  However, the Japanese are human like Americans and I am at least thankful that we work together now.  Whatever was going on between people in World War II, let's hope that doesn't happen again.

This could also apply to recent Israeli air strikes, as I implied in one of my recent topics...

Clearly the only country allowed to kill innocent people is the United States of America. We've been doing it for centuries and it's never gonna stop, bay-bee!
