Some just get bored and want extra excitement. Hiding the affair may make them feel excitement, just like many young teenagers feel the excitement of doing something illegal like drinking. Some may want to have an affair without breaking things off with their significant other because they may not be getting what they want sexually out of them, but otherwise still love them and want to be with them. Some may feel as if if they do end things for an affair, the person might go crazy and hurt either themselves or somebody else.
