I have a friend who has a bad relationship with his dad. After a tragedy in their lives, his dad started drinking. Obviously, his drinking has become a problem, but thats not what I need help with. His dad hits him now. It's bad, and I hate that man for doing this to my friend. But see, my friend is a good guy and wants to fix this damaged relationship with his father. I want to support him every way I can, but I don't know what to say anymore. I could physically harm his father for what he's doing, but I can't for many reasons that are quite beyond my control. This guy has a great support system, he has a wonderful family who loves him, a great girlfriend who would support him in anything... but I feel like he's only going to get hurt physically and emotionally by trying to "fix" this with his dad. What can I say? What can I do for him? He'll know who he is: honestly my friend, I want to help you. It hurts me to hear about you being hurt.

your friend is just being the way he knows how to be. he sounds like a nice guy. all logic says to do it different but love? love is never logical. if i were religous id pray for his safty. if i were his friend id check up on him. if i were him i might be just as foolish. i wish him the best
