ok so i posted a topic about mormonism and people didnt get that i am catholic lesbian and wanted an explanation. so here it goes.

i was raised catholic.
i go to church every weekend.
i go to a catholic private school.

i believe in most things i am VERY spiritual but i think i interpret certain things differently.
i believe God is accepting and forgiving of everyone and i honestly dont believe in that whole condemning homosexuals stuff.
i think He has made me this way for a reason and i am not being punished nor will i be punished for it.

Apparently, if you accept Jesus Christ as your lord and savior before you die, your sins will be forgiven.

-- Posted by WickedWiccan at 10:43 pm on Jan. 4, 2009

I think you should feel happy about the way you are.

I agree with you. I have been raised catholic, and although I am not a lesbian, reading the bible, and listening to people, I believe God loves everyone who loves themselves, their neighbors, and him. I feel like he created you, he accepts you, and like a parent, he has unconditional love.

everybody is a hypocrite, now a days people say what god says is right and wrong and that pisses me off.

lets get it straight, you a lesbian, god hates you, there is no way in hell that he will forgive you, it is against his teachings, and just because you believe in him with all your heart does not mean you are saved.

religion is bull shit just like the people that follow it

-- Posted by blufindr at 10:46 pm on Jan. 4, 2009

Damn straight.

Whoa, neat!

I betcha I can squeeze that in on my deathbed.

Wow, i'd love to quote almost everyone here and have a discussion about what they said, but that's not what I'm here for. Mischaelle, it's great to hear that you've come to terms with yourself and your relgion and that the two are compatible. I've also been raised Catholic and I have interpreted it too, and despite originally being divine it is limited by human interpretation, so if you take a interpretation that leads to live a good life, one where you are happy about yourself, proud of yourself, and apply yourself to do great things for this world (whatever that may be), then you're a saint in my book.

Nah, it isn't that easy. You have to live the life of a Christian in order to make it to Heaven. You can't just continue to sin and live the life of a heathen, then all of a sudden when you're on your death bed ask God to "forgive your sins" and he'll just do it 'like that'. Too many people think it works that way, and too many people are highly disappointed when they reach the gates of Heaven, only to be turned away...

Good for you. I was also raised Catholic, and am very spiritual. But there are a lot of things that I disagree with the church on. I'm bisexual, and people really don't seem to understand that I can believe in God and be bisexual.

So, trust me, I know how you feel, and it truly takes a strong person. But honestly, I don't know why people try to fit their beliefs into a religion. They should be fitting their religion into their beliefs. Not sure if that made sense...

Not really, just pointing out that even if you're raised in the Catholic church, go to church every Sunday and go to Catholic school, you can still not be a Catholic. I mean, it doesn't really matter what rituals you went through or what little pieces of paper say. If you believe things that go against what the Catholic church teaches, or if you disbelieve what the Catholic church teaches, you're most likely moving towards the "not being a Catholic" side of things.

Kind of like how you can't believe in God and still be an atheist.

-- Posted by Event Horizon at 1:09 pm on Jan. 5, 2009

Yea, but she said she believes in most things the church teaches. I'd say she's pretty catholic...
I mean, maybe her beliefs fall under a different sect of christianity, but who really cares. Christian theology is baiscally the same in every "sect"; barring a few small practical differences here and there. Well, I guess mormonism and such aren't very similar, but those --to me-- are cults with a christian guise.
