Took a couple of days to do. It's acrylics on a 15"x20" stretched canvas. Sorry about the funny angle of the canvas. It's hard to get enough light and get a decent shot. Comments? :)

The square is actually a box... I thought that would have been obvious from the way the cat's paws are. Plus it's a little darker (it's like a shade of brown and blue).I guess it might just be me. The background, again, I'm not too sure. Thanks for the comment though! I'll definitely think about it.

This 'box' looks like the same value as the rest of the background, so I interpret it as a hole in the cats.

Really? I'm fairly certain it's a lot lighter. Maybe it's my screen. Or yours. Either way, I'll look into adding texture to it. Or something. I don't know. Actually, here, I think the contrast is better on this one: Thanks though, do you have any suggestion of how to change it?

Does the perspective of the photo actually give the box no visible form in perspective?

Pretty much, yeah. Here is the ref. In fact I added a lot of stuff by bothering my cats to it. I think I'm gonna convert it to like a wicker basket/box thing.
